Solution · CCTV & Surveillance
A CCTV system fails on watts, metres and frozen cameras — not on port count. This solution page sizes the switch layer for a camera network using the ONV surveillance ranges.

CCTV is the application the ONV catalogue is built around — the company lists smart security among its core fields, maintains a dedicated Security Ethernet Switch series, and threads surveillance features (250-metre ports, AI watchdog recovery, per-port PoE budgets) through its PoE lines. A CCTV switch layer is sized by four numbers: camera count, per-camera power at night (IR and heaters change the draw), the longest cable run, and how a frozen camera gets recovered.
The reference build is simple to state: unmanaged or smart PoE at the edge for small clusters, managed PoE where VLANs separate cameras from the business network, 250-metre or extender solutions for the runs that break 100 metres, and an aggregation path to the NVR that carries the summed bitrate with headroom. The security series below — compact gigabit switches for NVR and monitoring stations — completes the layer.

Size a CCTV build in this order: list cameras with night-time wattage; group them by cabinet location; measure the three longest runs and choose their fix (standard, long-distance mode, extender or fiber); pick managed or unmanaged by who maintains the site; and finally check the NVR uplink against summed bitrate. Every one of those steps maps to a page in this section — or send the camera list and let us size it.
Retail and hospitality, warehouses and logistics, schools and campuses, parking and perimeters, municipal and traffic cameras — the surveillance estates this catalogue serves.
Ports give the ceiling; watts and bitrate give the real limit. A 24-port switch with a 250W budget runs twenty-four 10W cameras comfortably — but sixteen PTZs with heaters may exhaust the budget first. Size by the device list, always.
Individually, no — a camera stream is a few megabits. The gigabit need is aggregate: uplinks and the NVR connection. Many CCTV builds use 10/100M camera ports with gigabit uplinks for exactly this reason.
