AI PoE switch: the network that reboots its own cameras

The most common surveillance fault is a camera that has stopped talking. AI PoE switches detect it and restart the device's power automatically — the watchdog function, built into the switch.

The range at a glance

Ask any integrator what fills their maintenance log and the answer is the same: powered devices that freeze. The camera is fine after a power cycle — but the power cycle meant a ladder, a van and an hour. ONV's AI PoE line automates exactly that recovery: the switch monitors the traffic of each powered port, and when a device stops communicating, it cuts and restores that port's PoE, rebooting the device without human intervention.

The same watchdog logic appears as the D function switch on the smart unmanaged models; the AI line builds it into gigabit-uplink switches up to 27 ports for larger camera estates. It is not a substitute for management — it is the opposite philosophy: no configuration, no monitoring console, the switch simply keeps its devices alive.

How to choose

Choose AI PoE when the site has no IT presence and the cost of a visit dwarfs the cost of the switch: retail chains, remote facilities, leased cameras, municipal cameras on poles. If an operator already monitors the network with SNMP, a managed switch gives the same restart capability under human or software control — the AI line is for everywhere else.

04

Where it is deployed

Retail and restaurant chains, remote and unattended sites, pole-mounted municipal cameras, parking and perimeter systems with no local technician.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the AI detect?

A powered port whose device has stopped passing traffic — the classic frozen-camera signature. The switch then power-cycles that port. It does not diagnose the device itself; it performs the restart a technician would have performed.

AI PoE or managed PoE — which for a 100-camera site?

At that scale, managed: SNMP traps and per-port control let a NOC see and act on faults centrally. AI PoE shines across many small sites rather than one large one.
